I believe that dogs are the closest we will ever come in physical form to perfect love as God describes it. As mere humans, we can but hope to attain that level of love. Julia embodied it utterly and completely. I will forever be a better person because of her. We will never be the same without her.
Julia's second debut at ABC - blue ribbons, new titles, the works!
Ah, our one and only Excellent Leg - it was the run that dreams are made of! We were never so together as we were that day. If you can picture a conductor as the music that she directs actually pours from her fingertips, that's what it felt like to run Julia in that JWW class on that VERY cold April afternoon. I will never forget the feeling of US that day . . . (click on thumbnails for larger pics) An athlete in every sense of the word, Julia earned her first two agility titles with back-to-back four-for-four weekends! Julia earned her Novice AKC titles at the fall trials in 2000 and then came back out to earn her Open AKC titles at the spring trials in 2001. In 13 trials, Julia earned 12 legs . . . She was HOT stuff!
To absolutely no fault of her own, Julia garnered but a single leg of her CD one fine weekend in Virginia Beach. She was certainly capable of FAR more, if only she'd had a handler! ;o)
I entered Julia in conformation several times during a controversial period in our breed's history. She had a dark face and natural ears - we were definitely bucking the system. But I never took her out in pursuit of any political goal - I was just so damned PROUD of her that I wanted to let the world see her! She took my breath away every day. She won one RWB and you'd think that she'd just won BIS that day! Her last time in the show ring was as a Veteran at our local all-breed club in November 2005. She was the only one, but everyone ringside cheered and hooped and hollered and she strutted her stuff - saggy nipples and all! I could hardly make my way around the ring for the tears in my eyes! Her ribbon reads Best Veteran In Breed and I cherish it dearly.
Julia was the consummate mother - to her own as well as to ours . . .
There are not words to describe what a life with this beautiful little red dog means to me - she was simply extraordinary . . .
